Care and Maintenance of Curve
Skate Bearings
• Curve
bearings come pre-packed with durable water resistant grease, so with
proper care and maintenance, your bearings will get faster over time.
• We use extra hard automotive grade bearing steel so that your
bearings will last longer than normal electric motor quality bearings.
Cleaning
and Lubrication
•
All bearings wear out, eventually. Proper care and maintenance of your
bearings will help them last longer.
• Over time, the bearings will become dirty, the grease will break
down, and it will be necessary to clean the bearings and re-apply some
oil or other lubrication.
• First, keep the outside of the bearings clean and free from dirt
and grit. This will help prevent small pieces of dirt from getting past
the shields into the bearings.
• Use a dry clean rag or paper towel to wipe any dirt from the outside
of the bearing shields. Don’t use soap or other solvents, as this
can get inside the bearings and break down the lube.
• Apply one or two drops of lubricant near the inside edge of the
shield. The oil will seep inside the bearings to help keep them running
smoothly.
• We recommend Powell Speed Cream™, Tri-Flo™, synthetic
grade motor oil, or other high quality lube for bearings.
• We recommend doing the above procedure on a very regular basis.

Major
Bearing Overhaul
•
For those skaters who want maximum speed from their bearings, contact
us at: info@curvebearings.com and we’ll e-mail you the procedure
for doing a full overhaul of your bearings to give them maximum performance.
• Once you do this, however, your bearings will require more extensive
regular maintenance, so we only recommend this for competitive skaters
who truly need the extra performance and regularly maintain their equipment.
